What you need to know
Montesano School District is moving from Skyward SMS 2.0 to Skyward Qmlativ this summer. Here's what families need to know about the timeline, what stays the same, and how to reach us during the transition.
This summer, Montesano School District is transitioning to Skyward Qmlativ, a modern, more flexible version of the student information system we use to manage student records, attendance, grades, scheduling, and family communication.
For families, this is the system behind the family portal — where you log in to check your child's grades, attendance, and contact information, communicate with the school, and complete enrollment and registration. The upgrade brings improved tools, stronger long-term security, and access from any device. More than 180 districts in our cooperative have already completed or are completing this same transition, and our team has been preparing for months.
Key dates for families
- June 24 — Our online student information system goes offline as we complete the final data migration. During this window, the family portal will be unavailable, and families won't be able to submit enrollment or registration information.
- Projected July 13 — Qmlativ goes live. New student enrollment for the 2026–27 school year reopens at this time.
- August 17 — Annual student update and back-to-school registration opens for returning students. Families of current students can log in to verify and update student information.
What stays the same
Your child's records — grades, attendance, history, contact information, and more — transfer fully and securely to the new system. Nothing is lost. Your access to your child's information continues, and if anything changes about how you log in to the family portal, we'll send step-by-step instructions in advance. No action is needed from families before the transition begins.
Updates
We'll post updates here and on the district news page if the timeline changes. Thank you for your patience as our team completes this important upgrade.
