We follow Washington State's school exclusion guidelines. Keep your child home if any of these are true:
Our school nurse is on site Monday - Friday. For medication during school hours, complete the medication authorization form before sending anything in.
We don't have a uniform. Please send your child in clothes they can play in, layered for the weather. Closed-toe shoes are required for PE. Three recess blocks a day means rain coats and boots are essential most of the year.
Breakfast is served from 8:05 to 8:25 AM. Lunch is served by grade.
Menus are at monteschools.org/menus. Pay or check balances through RevTrak (linked from /food-service).
Free and reduced-price meals: families can apply at any point in the year. The application is on the food-service page or you can ask the office.
Beacon's expectations are simple and consistent: be safe, be respectful, be responsible. We use restorative practices — when something goes wrong, students learn what happened, who was affected, and how to make it right. Serious or repeated issues involve families immediately.
We rely on family volunteers. Background checks are free and the office walks you through the form. Common volunteer roles:
We run regular fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills. In a real emergency, follow district communication channels — FlashAlert, the website's alert banner, and Skyward messages. Do not come to the school until we tell you it's safe to do so. Reunification, if needed, happens at a designated location we'll communicate at the time.
