We try to have your student in class within two business days of your first office visit. Documents help, but a missing piece won't hold up enrollment — we'll work alongside you while records arrive.
Don't wait for everything to arrive — start with what you have. Office staff will fill in the gaps, and we'll request the rest from your previous school once you sign a records release.
A current utility bill, lease, or signed rental agreement showing your Monte address. A purchase-and-sale agreement also works while you're in escrow.
Birth certificate, passport, visa, baptismal certificate, adoption decree, or a hospital/physician's certificate.
Washington State Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS), signed by your provider. Records from another state work — we'll convert them.
Name, address, and phone of the school you're leaving. A withdrawal form or unofficial transcript helps but isn't required up front — we can request records on your behalf.
Bring a copy if you have one. If you don't, give us the previous school's contact info — Student Services will request it directly so services start without a gap.
Most mid-year arrivals follow this rhythm. We'll keep you in the loop at each step — text or email, your preference.
Each school's office can confirm what to bring and pick the best day for an intake meeting. The building office professional is the right first call — not the District Office.
Bring your documents. Office staff will help you finish the Skyward enrollment form on the spot if needed, and sign the records-release form so we can request files from the previous school.
If schedule allows, the principal or office staff walks your student to their classroom that day or the next so they meet their teacher before day one.
Bus route, lunch account, and Skyward Family Access are usually ready within two business days. We'll text or email you when each piece is set.
Both paths land in Skyward — but if you're coming from outside Monte's boundary, you have a quick OSPI Choice Transfer step first.
Pick this if your new address is inside Monte's attendance area. No choice transfer needed — start the Skyward enrollment, then call your assigned building to schedule the intake.
Pick this if you live outside Monte but want your student to attend here. Washington families have a right to apply for a Choice Transfer (RCW 28A.225.220). Approval depends on space, attendance history, and discipline record.
Each of these has a federal or state protection that shortens the runway. None of them slow down enrollment — they keep services in place while paperwork catches up.
Children arriving with an existing IEP or 504 keep their services in place. Student Services starts comparable services on day one while the team meets to review the plan.

Enrolling for the start of the next school year (or kindergarten in the fall) follows the general flow on the enrollment hub — same Skyward portal, same documents, longer window to submit.
