If someone is harassing you, pressuring you sexually, hurting you in a relationship, won’t leave you alone, or treating you unfairly because of your sex or gender — or because you’re pregnant or a parent — there’s a federal law that protects you (Title IX), and there are people here whose job is to help. You get to decide what happens next. Here’s what that looks like.
You don’t have to know the right word for it. If any of this is happening — at school, on the bus, online, or even off-campus when it follows you into school — this page is for you:
Whatever happened, you didn’t cause it and you don’t have to carry it alone. What you wore, where you were, or what you said doesn’t change that. We believe you.
You can get help without filing a formal report or telling every detail. You decide how far it goes — and you can change your mind. We explain your options; you choose.
Whether or not you file anything, we can put supports in place: schedule or class changes, a no-contact rule, someone to check in on you, extra time on work, a different route or locker.
It is illegal for anyone — a student, a staff member, anyone — to punish you or get back at you for speaking up. If that happens, tell us; it’s its own violation.
You can ask just for support — you don’t have to start a formal investigation to get help. Any of these works:
If you were just hurt or you’re in danger right now, tell the nearest adult or call 911 — your safety comes first, everything else can wait.
About privacy — the honest version: we share what you tell us only with the people who need to help, and never with other students. But because keeping students safe is the law, there are a few situations — like someone being in danger, or abuse of a minor — where the adults here have to report it so you get real help. If we ever have to do that, we’ll explain it to you first and stay with you through it. You will not be handed off and forgotten.
Title IX protects pregnant and parenting students. That means:
Tell Dan Winter or your counselor what you need — we’ll set it up.
You can reach any of these any time, free and confidential — even just to talk it through before you decide anything:
What happened doesn’t define you. You deserve to feel safe here.
