PRINCIPAL'S CORNER

The school year is off to a strong start! Our seventh graders are successfully navigating their six classes and locker mechanics, while our upperclassmen have been great leaders in the classroom, at assemblies, and during club and class events. Students are settling into school routines, and teachers are working hard to strengthen student engagement and support academic progress.

Homecoming brought our school and community together in a wonderful show of Monte Pride and Bulldog Spirit! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Community Pep Rally at Jack Rottle Field. The incredible turnout reflected the pride and support that make our small town so special. We are proud to be part of this community and grateful for the families, staff, and neighbors who support our students.

As we move into October, please watch for mid-quarter progress reports during the first week of the month. This is a great time to talk with your student about how schoolwork is going, check Skyward, and reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns about your student's progress. Be sure to visit the school website and calendar to stay informed about upcoming events and activities.

Thank you for partnering with us to make the start of the school year a success. It's going to be a GREAT year!

Digital Citizenship Presentation

As part of his Digital Citizenship Presentation, Officer T.J. Rogich shared these NetSmartz tips for staying safe online. We encourage families to review them together and discuss online kindness, protecting personal information, and knowing when to reach out to a trusted adult.A NetSmartz “Tips for Tweens” infographic provides online safety advice about cyberbullying, online predators, oversharing personal information, and talking with trusted adults. The colorful graphic uses illustrations of phones, computers, and speech bubbles to highlight key safety tips.

HEALTH & SAFETY

A NOTE FROM OUR NURSE

As we head into cold and flu season and see more contagious illnesses passing through our student population, remember that frequent, thorough handwashing is one of the best ways to protect yourself and others. Wash with warm, soapy water for 20 seconds - especially before eating, after using the restroom, and after sneezing, coughing, or blowing your nose.

Please do not share food, drinks, or personal care items. Stay home when you are sick and not feeling well to help protect friends, fellow students, and staff. Thank you for helping keep our school healthy.

THE GREAT SHAKEOUT
OCTOBER 14 • 10:15 AM

We will conduct our Great ShakeOut earthquake drill one day early this year. The drill is an opportunity to practice how to be safer during an earthquake: DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON.

LOOKING AHEAD: FALL CONFERENCES

MHS FALL CONFERENCES • THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12

Conferences will be held from 1:00-5:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM. The scheduling window is Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 6. All conferences must be scheduled during this window. Need assistance? Contact the High School Office at 360-249-4041.

POLICY HIGHLIGHT

LEAVING CAMPUS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

Students must check out through the office before leaving campus at any time during the school day - even when a parent or guardian has already excused the absence. Leaving campus without completing the office check-out process will result in the absence being recorded as truancy.

FEELING SICK AT SCHOOL?

If your student becomes ill during the school day, please have them report directly to the nurse rather than texting home and remaining in class. This helps us limit the spread of illness, allows the nurse to assess and support your student, and helps us coordinate dismissal with families without interrupting classroom instruction.
