Family Attendance Guide
Showing up — every day, on time — is one of the strongest things that helps a child do well. Stick this on the fridge.
Six habits that protect a school year
- Set the night before. Lay out clothes, pack the backpack, and set a consistent bedtime. Mornings go smoother when the night did the work.
- Have a backup ride. Line up a second option — a neighbor, a family member, the bus — so one hiccup doesn't become a missed day.
- Know when it's truly a sick day. Fever, vomiting, or something contagious? Keep them home. A sniffle or “I don't feel like it” usually isn't a reason to miss.
- Call early, and tell us why. Let the office know the same morning. Excused or not, telling us helps — and lets us help you if something bigger is going on.
- Make appointments after school. When you can, schedule dentist and doctor visits for after 3:00 or on a day off.
- Ask for help — it's not a trap. If getting to school is hard, tell us. Reaching out leads to support, not trouble. We'd much rather help than have your child fall behind.
When to keep your child home
- A fever of 100.4°F or higher — and stay home until 24 hours fever-free without medicine.
- Vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours.
- Anything contagious, until a doctor or our school nurse says it's okay to return.
Otherwise — a sniffle, a slow morning, “I don't feel like it” — is usually a day to come to school.
