Montesano MEA Scholarship in Honor of Herbert Reiter

Scholarships in the amount of $500.00 are available from the Grays Harbor Mounted Posse scholarship program. The recipients will be selected on the following criteria:
Equine Oriented, Written Resume, Financial Need, Community Service Commitments, 2.5 GPA Minimum, Graduating High School Seniors, May be used for any Post-secondary Education
Applicants MUST have all scholarship application materials, to include a transcript of grades, postmarked no later than April 21, 2017, for consideration. Any late applications CANNOT be accepted. Scholarships awarded must be used for the 2016-17 school year. Please submit applications to:

Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest Description
Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by VarsityTutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. This scholarship was established to honor a man who loved wildlife, was dedicated to preserving tracts of land for future generations, and encouraged others to pursue their dreams. Dave Brittell’s passion as a wildlife biologist left a lasting impact on wildlife habitat and species in the Pacific Northwest region.
This scholarship may be used for tuition, books, or living expenses incurred while pursuing a degree in wildlife biology or a related natural resource field at a college or university in the Pacific Northwest. The award recipient must attend school on a full-time basis during the academic year of the scholarship. A scholarship in the amount of $1000 will be awarded and paid in the second term of the scholarship year, provided the student remains in good academic standing. There are some variables in the selection process, however merit will be the principal determining factor in selection. Candidates will be evaluated on leadership and citizenship qualities, dedication to purpose, scholastic achievement, potential for continuing development, and outlook as demonstrated by participation in activities other than scholastic activities. Two letters of recommendation should address these qualities as demonstrated by the applicant, and an application form must be completed by the applicant. Letters of recommendation should include contact information.

This is a $1500 scholarship to go to a student enrolled in continuing the education beyond high school. There will be a priority given to those seeking a career in the criminal justice field.
There are two scholarships one will primarily go to a student who is interested in a career within Fire/Paramedic/Medical Careers.

ELIGIBILITY: The applicant may be any Elma or Montesano High School graduate planning to pursue a higher education. Your choice may be any college, university, community college, accredited vocation school or trade school. Please feel free to attach additional pages for essay questions and any other information that you feel is pertinent.
The applicant should be aware that our choice will not be limited to low income. Payment will be made directly to the school of your choice of enrollment.

Criteria: Awarded to a student who has a 2.5 GPA or above, has worked hard and plans to pursue their education.

LARRY QUINN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: DUE April 28th
Larry Quinn was a 1984 graduate of Montesano High School. He was a member of the 1983 state championship football team, as well as the basketball and track and field teams. In 2007, he was inducted into the Montesano High School Hall of Fame. Larry was a loving husband to his best friend, Renee, and an exceptional father and role model to his three children – Lyndsy, Hannah and Noah. In addition to husband and dad, Larry served as a coach, mentor and source of inspiration to hundreds of kids across Grays Harbor.
Larry was never the biggest, strongest or fastest athlete, but he worked hard and improved every single day. He never wasted a moment in the gym or on the field. Likewise, Larry worked hard in the classroom, went to college and served as a project Manager at Lakeside Industries for 25 years.
An example of leadership and self-sacrifice, Larry was the person you would always want to be on your team.
A champion for the underdog and the little guy, Larry spent extra time with the student-athletes who might otherwise be left behind or over-looked. Larry wanted every child to succeed. As a result, the teams he coached were not just highly successful in the win-loss column, but were a model of teamwork and successful collaboration.
The Larry Quinn Memorial Scholarship was established to recognize a student or students who exemplify the qualities and spirit Larry possessed. There are no formal requirements to apply, as Larry would've wanted it, rather a commitment to improvement and dedication to personal growth and success.

Montesano Moose will have 5 Scholarships available in honor of Doug Bubnick. The applications are due to the Moose Lodge on May 15th by 3pm .
The Grays Harbor Music Teachers Association offers music scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties and currently enrolled college students.
The applicants must display an active part in their school’s music program and plan to further their education as music or music theater majors or minors. This scholarship is open to vocal and instrumental students.
OCCU announces Scholarship Program
Our Community Credit Union is now accepting applications for their high school scholarship program. This year, the number of $1,000 scholarships awarded has increased from three to six.
Applicants must be a 2017 graduating senior, an OCCU member and attending school in either Mason or Grays Harbor County or Vashon Island. Applications and guidelines for the scholarship are available to download at ourcu.com. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2017.
