Preparing distance learning for our Bulldogs - March 30th through April 17th

The current plan to support Students and Families Through Distance Learning

Teachers Teaching -  Kids Learning

Preparing distance learning for our Bulldogs - March 30th through April 17th:

  • March 30-April 3rd - Teachers may connect with students and families because we know how important it is right now to alleviate any anxiety or worry our students are feeling.  This will help our Bulldogs stay connected to our school community.

    • Teachers may:

      • Ask questions like:  How are you doing? What do you need from us?  What educational activities are helpful and feasible for your family?

      • Reach out to individual families and track their access to technology capabilities

      • Encourage students and families that haven’t already joined Google Classroom to do so

      • Share something positive about each student

  • April 6-17: Spring Break/School Extension

    • Spring break is being extended one week to adjust for the last day of school being June 19th.

    • Take a break! You have been working so hard. Enjoy your families and take this time to refresh!

April 20th Distance Learning Begins  (as many teachers and students already have!)

  • Teachers may:

    • Use Google Classroom (or another platform) to record specific lessons for families - checking in at least once per day

    • Use Zoom (or another platform) to be available to answer specific questions your students or families may have about the content. Teachers could let families know a specific time of day that they will be available or online to answer questions.

    • Guide families to a specific lesson in the online programs available or to our educational resources link. (ie. iReady online instruction, NewsELA, Discovery Education, enVision Math, etc).

    • Provide feedback to students and encourage engagement

  • Enrichment activities and assignments cannot be graded nor will they be reflected on report cards. We understand that not all students and families have access to technology and equity is a priority for us.

We are charting new territory and learning how to navigate together!

  • Please jump into this as your comfort level allows

  • Reach out when you have questions or ideas

  • We know we have had little time/planning/training to provide online learning, and it will be clunky at first. We are just happy to connect with students and families, and that’s what is most important right now

  • We are all in this together!
