Annual Student Information Update- MHS

Please watch for the following letter to arrive in the mail within the next few days. It was mailed Friday, August 14, 2020. The Annual Student Information Update will open in Skyward Family Access on Monday, August 17th.

Dear Montesano Junior/Senior High Parents & Students:

Welcome Back Bulldogs and a special welcome to the “Class of 2026”.  This has been an unprecedented year and now, more than ever, we are looking forward to working with you and your student as we return to learning.  As decided at the School Board meeting on Tuesday, August 11th, we will begin the 2020-2021 school year remotely, meaning we will not have face-to-face instruction but will be learning from home until it’s deemed safe to return to the building.

We’ve included a learning schedule for students in this mailing and while we know there continues to be questions regarding the upcoming school year, we are working very hard to get answers out to you all.  As previously indicated, our classes for the Jr/Sr High will be reduced to 3 subjects for the first nine weeks, then changing to 3 different classes for the subsequent nine weeks, etc.  Detailed information on remote learning, text book retrieval, chromebook check-out, etc., will be broadcasted in the days to come. We encourage all parents, guardians, and students to watch the district and school websites at www.monteschools.org and by logging into your Skyward Family/Student Access, as we post information there regularly.  As we near the beginning of school, your student will be included in Google Classrooms for each of their classes.  These invitations will come via their school email – so it is imperative that students are checking their emails regularly.

More information will be coming regarding restarting school in September. For now, we can tell you that the one thing which hasn’t changed this year is the Annual Student Information Update.  We will again be using online forms to update information for all returning students including incoming seventh graders. This information will be required for ALL Montesano Jr/Sr High School students and needs to be completed before students can see their schedules. This Information Update will open on Monday, August 17, 2020.  Here is what we need you to do:

1.                    Parents/Guardians:  Log into your Skyward “Family Access” account and complete the information update process.  The first step will be to complete the Pandemic Response form which includes our program choices; the M.O.D.E.L. program or our in-building program (which will start the year in “Remote Learning”).  We will also have you verify your contact information (i.e., address, phones, and emergency contacts).

2.                    You will need to complete some more steps in order to register your child for the 2020-2021 school year.  We still need these forms completed, even though we are starting in a remote setting.  There will be health information, medical waivers, ethnicity data information, photo/video authorization form, etc.

3.                   Students will also need to log in using their own ID & password to complete their part of registration.  They will be able to print out their schedules at that time as well.

If you do not remember your password, need it reset or just need assistance with Skyward, you can email mhsskyward@monteschools.org or leave a message at (360) 249-1635.  Again, the Annual Student Information Update will not open until Monday, August 17th.

Also, just a reminder that all fines and fees from last year need to be paid in full before the new school year begins.  If you have any questions, please give us a call at the school.  The office will open at 8:00AM on Monday, August 17, 2020.

7th Grade Orientation:  In lieu of the traditional orientation night, we will be sending out a video to our incoming 7th graders to get their year started.  Again, be watching the school website and make sure both you and your student are logging onto Skyward Family/Student Access.

As most of you are aware, the WIAA Executive Board has modified the 2020-2021 sports season calendar in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.  For more information on these athletic seasons, you may visit www.WIAA.com.

“School” will begin on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.  School pictures will not be scheduled until we return to the building for in-person learning.

Remember, the online Annual Student Information Update needs to be completed before students can access their schedules.  Please contact us if we can be of assistance.

Enjoy your last few weeks of summer!

Sincerely,

Alec Pugh
