The primary purpose of our preschool program is to serve students with special needs. Developmental preschool is available for qualifying three and four year olds with delays in communication, social/emotional, adaptive, cognitive, and/or physical development. There is no cost for preschool students enrolled in special education.

The morning preschool session is 8:20 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. The afternoon preschool session is 12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Preschool students attend 2 - 4 days per week, either morning session or afternoon session, depending upon their program enrollment.

All Preschool Applicants: All children must receive a developmental screening. You will be given information on how to sign up for this screening after submitting an enrollment application. You will be given the results of the developmental screening at the time of your appointment. Please plan on 1 hour and 15 minutes for this appointment.

Community Preschool: Preschool spots are available to typically developing students who are 4 years of age on or before August 31, 2018. Children must reside within the Montesano School District boundaries and meet the conditions for enrollment. Tuition for community preschool is $85.00 per month and families must provide transportation to and from school.

ECEAP: The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP, pronounced "e-cap") helps children and families get ready for kindergarten. ECEAP is funded by Washington State and is free to qualifying families. It serves four-year-olds from low income families, or with developmental or environmental risk factors that could interfere with school success. ECEAP includes preschool education, transportation, health services coordination, and family support services. The program works closely with parents to support their children’s health and education and to meet family goals. ECEAP also helps families access medical and dental care and social services. We have a limited number of ECEAP slots allocated to our district. ECEAP slots are available for children who are 4 years of age on or before August 31, 2018. Children must reside within the Montesano School District boundaries and meet the conditions for enrollment.  Click here to view ECEAP income eligibility limits.

To be eligible for kindergarten, a student must be five years of age prior to September 1, 2018. Full-day kindergarten is offered to all students free of charge. Click here for additional information about the kindergarten program.
