Because COVID-19 closed our schools, your children may be eligible for food assistance, called Pandemic EBT (P-EBT): Emergency School Meals Program.
P-EBT provides families with funds to make up for the cost of meals while school was closed. This benefit is for Washington children in grades k-12 who receive free or reduced-price school meals. These benefits will be on an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card which is used like a debit card to buy groceries.

Last Thursday, OSPI provided school districts with this guidance for reopening schools in September. As you read this, there are undoubtedly things that you may disagree with. There are items in the guidance that we are unsure of as well, but we are working very hard to come up with the Montesano School District Plan that best fits into the guidance and restrictions that have been provided to us.
In the coming weeks, we will be discussing options with district staff and providing you with full details on what school will look like for us in September.

My favorite memory of my senior year was the time I got to spend with all of my friends. One favorite memory specifically is when two of my friends and I went to Thriftway and bought a head of lettuce which I then proceeded to eat throughout the day.

My plans for the next upcoming is to finish my Associate’s Degree at Grays Harbor College and then transfer into medical school at the University of Washington. As far as my favorite memory of high school, it would have to be all of our pep rallies we would have for football games. I will never forget all of the fun we had in the stands and on the field.
We’d like to congratulate all scholarship recipients from last night’s Senior Scholarship Night.
We are so proud of the Class of 2020!

And remember…… All scholarships listed in the program were those turned in to the MHS Counseling Center. If you have a scholarship that is not recognized here, please contact the Counseling Center so we can make sure they are added to the graduation program for July 11th.

Natasha Taylor
My name is Natasha Taylor and my plan after high school is to attend Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho and earn a dual degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. I hope to get my Bachelor’s Degree in two years (since I will have my Associates this June) and get a job at an elementary school in Washington. Then I plan on taking classes every summer until I earn a Master’s Degree. At the moment, I believe want to teach forth grade but that may change.
My favorite high school memories are competitions with my drill team and working in the greenhouse/ shop with Mr. Wetzel. This year was my first year on the cheer/ drill team and it taught me so much besides dance technique such as punctuality, dependability, team work, and adaptability. I cannot even begin to explain the amount of extra work coach Kelsey Cole gave to this team and it’s members that changed me for the better. Ever since seventh grade, Mr. Wetzel has been a great role model for me and has done an outstanding job as a teacher. He has taught me many useful skills over the years that I still use to this day. His willingness to go above and beyond as an educator and make a difference in the lives of students is a big part of my decision to become an educator myself. I want to thank these two individuals for making my high school experience much more bearable and preparing me for adulthood.

This fall, I will be attending Pacific Lutheran University and plan to study Nursing and Biology.
My favorite high school memories are spontaneous weekend trips with my friends and all the amazing experiences that came from being co-president of FFA.
